Carry your card

1. Carry Your Card

Your eMedic Card prominently displays the familiar Star of Life emblem, which should be instantly recognized by all emergency medical professionals.  This emblem alerts the caregiver that your card provides personal medical information.

Call the Number on the card

2. Call the Phone Number on the Card

Emergency personnel can then call the toll-free phone number listed on the back of your card and provide our emergency call center with your member number.

Medical Profile is Sent

3. Medical Profile is Sent

Your emergency information that is stored in your Personal Medical Profile will be electronically transmitted to the hospital via fax and/or email.

Treat and Contact

4. Treat and Contact

A hard copy may then be printed by the hospital staff and hand delivered to the physician.  The physician now has important medical information and is better prepared to treat your specific medical emergency.  At this time, the emergency department staff is also able to advise your emergency contacts of your situation.

In order for your eMedic Card to work effectively, you must do two very simple things:

Create Your Personal Medical Profile:
Using your unique username and password, you may create and edit your profile to include the specific medical information that you would like made available to a physician in an emergency. This information may include emergency contacts, medical conditions, prescription information, allergies, drug sensitivities, medical devices, physician contacts, and other pertinent information. All submissions are voluntary, so you may enter as little or as much information as you like. However, Emergency Alert advises you provide as complete and accurate a profile as possible to better ensure you receive appropriate care from an emergency department physician.

Carry Your Card:
During an emergency, medical personnel are trained to look through wallets, purses and personal belongings for personal medical information. We suggest that you carry your card or your zip-clip in a prominent place among your belongings so it is easy to find. The faster medical personnel can find your card, the faster we can send them the critical information they may need.

It's that simple, so order the eMedic Card for your loved ones today.
